Really enjoyed speaking about @Netlify Functions at last night's London Microservices Meetup.
And thankful that the demo gods and the wifi gods were all in good moods.
🎥 Video soon.
🖼️ Slides now.

@VeryThorough @Netlify @SKleanthous @bruised_blood Yeah. @bruised_blood kindly gave me a selection of these characters, and I dip into them as sparingly as I can. (Although I'd prefer to dust them liberally across all my presentations!)
I no longer have that purple jumper which I used to wear to work a lot.

@VeryThorough @Netlify @SKleanthous @bruised_blood I mean.... LOOK AT THIS GUY!

@VeryThorough @Netlify @SKleanthous I wish I had that sort of talent. No. These were all given to me by the rather brilliant @bruised_blood a long long time ago.
I've been occasionally dripping them out into my slide for years. Steve is a super-talent!

@_munter_ Hmmm odd.
I can't go deep into exploring this right this moment... but my first question is: did you hit the preview URL a few times before running this test? Freshly deployed assets are only cached at CDN edge nodes (for all) after they have been served once. Still... 8s?! 🧐

@mbele_sompisi @stevelongoria @Netlify Here's a video exploring getting started with hooking a @netlify site up to @github:

@ianfeather Outstanding!!!

@ASpittel I'm sorry to say that I have no wisdom or sage advice to offer.
But I do offer positive vibes and hearty appreciation from across the internet, and hope that it will serve as a tiny reminder that the rude arseholes, while noisy, are actually outnumbered.

@bepsays @kaushalmodi @Netlify @GoHugoIO I'm not aware of any recent changes to the way that @Netlify's redirects work, @kaushalmodi. So I'm afraid that I don't quite understand.

Still a few places left if you want to join the London Microservices Meetup tomorrow evening.
I'll be braving the demo gods (not scared!) to give a hands-on look at building with @Netlify Functions, and @skleanthous will talk about Event driven systems.

@djm_ @kylemathews Boooooo.

@patrick_h_lauke Some parts need a membership card (which I don't have) but the big open space and most cafes and workspaces are open to all.

@zachleat @pborenstein @searls @eleven_ty @algolia I've only done the very basics, and not yet added a UI, which I will do.
This method of generating a simple index for a JavaScript search UI is remarkably straightforward with @eleven_ty.
I'll get that wired up using PE as I had on my site back in 2016:

Hooray!
Likely to be a sociable but informal bunch. Sharing a drink, a nibble, and no doubt putting the world to rights about web architectures and making things. https://twitter.com/kylemathews/status/1026524142563196932

@cedmax Two small tips to foster a constructive tone:
1. Call it a "retrospective" rather than a "post-mortem". Unless your project had fatalities.😎
2. Swap the usual feedback groups of stop/start/continue for "I liked" / "I wish" / "I wonder" which invite more constructive thoughts.

@thespite @Playdead @davatron5000 I've heard about the secret ending, but done it yet. Little Nightmares looks interesting.
