The archive of what I posted on Twitter, which I now self host due to a lack of trust in Twitter and some other reasons.

I'll soon begin refelcting all my Mastodon posts here too. I'm happier self-hosting or maintaining an archive of my content on URLs that I can own.

There are tools to help you do this too. Such as this one from the makers of Eleventy.

@smashingconf #SmashingConf Q for @patmeenan: Making these metrics visible seems key to success. Do you recommend any techniques for automating the measurement and reporting of these as part of our builds? (Rather than manual testing)

@smashingconf #smashingconf Q: for @zachleat Does adding subsetted base64 encoded fonts into your page directly cost you anything in terms of caching strategies? And if so, enough to matter?

Nodding furiously along to @AndyDavies as he describes perf hits & risks of invalid A/B tests in many A/B testing libraries.

Doing it CDN level is the only way to get real comparison. Do it with @Netlify with a couple of clicks!

The problem with watching @una describe CSS techniques to treat images to create snazzy yet performant effects is that it always makes me want to go away and redesign my website. Very cool. #SmashingConf

@deejayqf @nhoizey @tkadlec @Netlify Yeah! That was a genuine "ooooh" moment for me. *Genuine* comparisons of versions served "as production" from the CDN. Seems like it should be hard. Alarmingly simple to do.

@ChrisFerdinandi @Netlify It sounds like using @zapier for scheduling and calling the build webhooks is a popular (and effective) way to achieve this.

@danocodes @Netlify I only have the one and it will likely get given away tomorrow... but if our army of babygrow engineers were listening in from Netlify HQ back in San Francisco, they'd probably encourage you to DM them... You never know!

@ChrisFerdinandi @Netlify That's a good question and something I've been pondering a little too. Nothing built in to such as Cron to trigger builds. Anything anywhere that could fire a webhook regularly would work for you as a trigger. But I'm going to ask the product team about this. I'd welcome it.

Ready with some @Netlify goodies to give away at #smashingconf. But just one of these babygrows, which is relevant to both the content of my talk, and my feelings about presenting it.
