The archive of what I posted on Twitter, which I now self host due to a lack of trust in Twitter and some other reasons.

I'll soon begin refelcting all my Mastodon posts here too. I'm happier self-hosting or maintaining an archive of my content on URLs that I can own.

There are tools to help you do this too. Such as this one from the makers of Eleventy.

@DavidDarnes @Una On transport, esp on a plane, the noise cancelling is superb. I feel like I can enjoy content at lower volumes as a result.

That was something I was looking for when I was shopping for these. Previously I had some good noise isolating Shure in-ears. But prefer the cancelling.

@raymondcamden They will. They have an optional cable. They also charge over usbc for 30 hours of use. And a 10 minute charge gives you 5 hours of use.

@joebell_ Heh. Yeah. I’ve had to form good discipline of disconnecting from devices when I hop from one to the next. Otherwise my laptop reeeeeally wants to connect to them from my bag when I turn them on.

@Una Not sure about the QC 35s. I had some Bose QC 3s for about 2 years until they broke. I like them a lot. But find these more comfortable and better sounding.

You can try ‘em out when I see you later. 🤗

Note: Only Africa, by Toto will be available to sample. Because.

@djm_ I’m finding that for long periods they are more comfortable than any in or on-ear headphones I’ve had.

I regularly comfortably wear them on 11 hour flights while hardly ever taking them off. Even while sleeping. The ambient cabin noise seems deafening when you take them off.

@keirwhitaker Yes! I’d been away from over-the-ear headphones for some time, but the comfort and quality have far outweighed the cost of packing something slightly larger when travelling. The wired option for in-flight systems is a winner too.

This year I invested in some Sony WH-1000XM3 noise-cancelling bluetooth headphones.

They have totally transformed airports/planes/trains/buses for me.

@GrowthDesk @messagebird @Netlify I’ve Eurostarred home from Amsterdam before. It worked quite well. But I’ve no problem with EasyJet really... I just got unlucky with my choice of flight.

Meanwhile, I’m curious about that article! 🤓

@rem I think it was being used as a screen of discretion. An effort to make shovelling the sushi from packaging to mouth (mostly) less unsettling for fellow travellers.

Like putting a bottle of beer in a paper bag.

Not entirely successful.

@notrab Oooft! That’s a different beast. I don’t fancy that. This flight is only 45 minutes.

(Although as an update: we’ve been delayed in the tarmac for the last 35 minutes... so maybe shit will soon get real)

(And the sushi has mercifully been finished now)

On an EasyJet flight from London to Amsterdam with:

😳 2 x stag parties
😳 1 x hen party
😳 1 x seat neighbour enjoying sushi from a carrier bag.

Noise-cancelling headphones don’t fail me now.
